Barbara Bottalico is an attorney at the Court of Milan, specialised in labour law, privacy law and the law branch pertaining to new technologies. She is a research fellow at the Center for Health Technologies of the University of Pavia and a teacher of Bioethics at the faculties of Medicine and Nursing Sciences of the University of Pavia. In recent years, Barbara Bottalico has been involved in issues pertaining to the relationship among law, sciences and new technologies. Her PhD research focused on the the use of neuro-scientific evidence in civil and criminal lawsuits. After this, she carried out in-depth studies of the legal aspects relating to robotics, artificial intelligence and new technologies in the biomedical context (telemedicine, big data, privacy and informed consent), and she participated in several European projects in her capacity as legal expert. She has been a member of the Ethical Board of the Neurological Institute Carlo Besta in Milan since 2013.
