A graduate from the Bocconi University in Milan, he boasts a long-lasting expertise in international cooperation and the Italian social sector. Before he joined Oxfam Italia, Roberto Barbieri had a Programme Officer position in Unicef and in consultancy firms. He also coordinated social planning activities in local and voluntary sector organisations in Italy.  Recently an adjunct professor at the University of Florence, he delivers expert lectures during various master and university courses, and for Italian training agencies.  Before being awarded the new role as General Manager of Oxfam Italia, he had been Manager of the International Cooperation Department of this organisation starting from 2005.
